Latino Adolescents’ Civic Development in the United States: Research Results from the IEA Civic Education Study

Many studies have reported gaps between Latino and non-Latino adolescents in academic and political outcomes. The current study presents possible explanations for such gaps, both at the individual and school level. Hierarchical linear modeling is employed to examine data from 2,811 American ninth graders (approximately 14 years of age) who had participated in the IEA Civic Education study. Analyses of large data bases enable the consideration of individual characteristics and experiences, as well as the context of classrooms and schools. In comparison with non-Latino students, Latino adolescents report more positive attitudes toward immigrants’ rights but have lower civic knowledge and expected civic participation. These differences were apparent even when controlling for language, country of birth, and political discussions with parents. School characteristics that explain a portion of this gap include open classroom climate and time devoted to study of political topics and democratic ideals. Results are discussed within the framework of developmental assets and political socialization. Implications for educational policy and ways to use large data sets are also discussed.

张爱玲与台湾文学史书写有着复杂而又密切的关系,半个世纪以来,诸种台湾文学史或书写,或缩写,或不写张爱玲,都有其内在的深层原因。作为"文学/文化"的"张爱玲符号",已经成为一种亟待思考的文学现象,本文通过对张爱玲文本在东亚的后殖民和冷战秩序构筑当中被台湾接受的一些脉络,以及在台湾本土意识高扬的背景下台湾新文学史要怎样处理张爱玲的考察,阐述文学制度介入到国族想象后,对作家阐释也出现了较大的位移。而且,也要阐释台湾"独派"人士在处理文化上的身份认同和政治上的身份认同之间的理论困境。     

社会性别视角下对农村妇女政治参与状况的考察——基于对山东省部分农村的实证调查

在中国传统农村社会存在一个由传统社会性别角色,传统社会性别文化和传统社会性别结构相互建构的隐性社会排斥系统,致使农村妇女遭到不同程度的政治排斥,从而在享受与维护自身权益及政治参与方面出现一定的问题,阻碍了自身的发展和基层民主政治的完善与发展。     

说话人听觉识别研究综述

说话人的听觉识别一直都是司法话者识别的重要方法之一。国外实验表明:听觉识别率随时间的延长在降低,它与样本的长度、质量、内容以及听辨人的身份相关而与听辨人的性别无关。国外,亲听证人听辨法已经成为一种常见的司法话者识别方法,而我国实践中却应用得较少,因此有必要加强相关理论的应用研究。     

FUTURE CHILD'S RIGHTS IN NEW REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGY:THINKING OUTSIDE THE TUBE AND MAINTAINING THE CONNECTIONS

This article considers whether children born through assisted human reproduction are entitled to information about their biological origins. It examines the issue both from a clinical perspective, citing social science research and the personal narratives of donor‐conceived children, and from a legal perspective, outlining the extent of a child's “right to know” in different jurisdictions. The article suggests that a uniform legal approach is needed that will recognize the right of all children to access details about their identity and conception, for the sake of their psychological well‐being. The article includes a fact scenario that considers the situation of a donor‐conceived child who has become the subject of a custody dispute, and who has not been told the circumstances of his conception.     

《公民权利和政治权利国际公约》中公正审判权的保留问题探析

《公民权利和政治权利国际公约》的执行机构人权事务委员会从提出保留的限制条件、保留是否有效的判断机关以及无效保留的法律后果等三个方面对公约的保留问题表明了自己的态度。为了不至于违反公约规定的国际义务,在批准公约时,有些国家根据自己的情况对公正审判权提出了保留。考虑到我国的实际情况,我国在批准公约时,应当对公正审判权的适用范围和得益于较轻刑罚的权利提出保留。     

李普赛特政治发展观及其对后发国家政治民主化的启示

李普赛特认为民主的发展有赖于经济发展为其提供物质保障,有赖于认同、价值等社会心理因素为其提供合法性支撑,有赖于政治国家与公民社会的充分互动。后发国家的外生性政治民主化进程是一个异常复杂而艰难的过程,既需要以工业化为基础的经济高速发展,亦有赖于基于共同价值和认同的政治文化作为支撑,还需要在“强国家-强社会”结构的互动中实现多元主体对国家政治生活的积极参与。     

Identity and its verification

The European Commission's eJustice Strategy seems to contemplate that all lawyers will be issued with an ‘identity card’ card, perhaps intended to include a key for making digital signatures. The Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) is proposing to introduce such a card. The purpose of this article is to clarify what ‘identity’ is and what is involved in verifying it, and to offer some general observations about identity cards. Although written with the eJustice proposals in mind, nevertheless the purpose of this article is to address the topic in its widest sense, which means it affects identity and its verification, whatever the circumstances.

政治现代化是人们为实现社会发展总目标而自觉进行政治变革,推进政治从传统政治走向现代政治,即从专制政治走向民主政治的发展过程。政治现代化进程中必然出现的一些现象不可避免地成为犯罪增长的重要原因。这些现象包括政治力量分化,政治权力滥用,政治参与异化,政治意识扭曲,政治文化冲突等。
