Race and the City: Neighborhood Context and the Development of Generalized Trust

Previous research has indicated that socio-economic and racial characteristics of an individual's environment influence not only group consciousness and solidarity, but also affect his or her views toward minority or majority groups. Missing from this research is a consideration of how context, social interaction, and interracial experiences combine to shape more general psychological orientations such as generalized trust. In this study we address this gap in the literature by conducting a neighborhood-level analysis that examines how race, racial attitudes, social interactions, and residential patterns affect generalized trust. Our findings suggest not only that the neighborhood context plays an important role in shaping civic orientations, but that the diversity of interaction settings is a key condition for the development of generalized trust.     

公民环境权的生成与合理定位

公民环境权的合理定位与配置,对于保障环境法秩序的实现有着重要意义。本文试从公民环境权的生成问题入手,否定了公民环境权为环境行政权的“衍生形态”或“反射性利益”的错误认识,提出公民环境权作为一种人生而应有的权利,其法定化将对公民的“偏好”及环境行政权的合理化有重大作用。由此提出公民环境权并非“环境权私权化”的产物,而是天然地归属于一种社会性权利,这是由环境的物品属性决定的,同时也将对其权利的保护与救济产生重大影响。

对云南回族聚居区的社会治安综合治理,离不开对该民族的地理分布、历史文化、现实发展等因素作综合考察,本文选取近年来云南回族聚居区社会治安综合治理成效显著的个旧市沙甸区作为调查地点,通过对这一典型民族社区社会治安治理发展状况的分析,以期对民族地区基层派出所的公安工作有所启示.     

The impact of downsizing on the corporate reputation for social performance

This paper investigates the impact of downsizing on a firm's reputation for corporate social performance (RCSP). Drawing on the downsizing, corporate reputation and social responsibility literatures, a number of hypotheses concerning the impact of downsizing, and particularly the types of downsizing, on a firm's reputation for corporate social performance are developed and empirically tested. The main findings of this study are that, while downsizing seems to have a negative impact on the firm's RCSP, when one takes into account the kind of managerial action that led to downsizing (layoffs and/or divestitures), this impact differs between the two stakeholder groups, industry executives and financial analysts, which were investigated. This study also found that a high financial performance prior to downsizing led to a greater negative impact on the firm's RCSP. Copyright © 2004 Henry Stewart Publications     

Social networks and non‐market strategy

To date, the field of non‐market strategy has little to offer in the way of an integrated perspective on the simultaneous management of strategic issues and corporate stakeholders. This paper employs social network analysis to make a number of theoretically grounded conjectures about the delicate relationships between stakeholder behaviour and issue evolution. It is found that social network analysis has the potential to enrich and integrate theoretical perspectives in the field of non‐market strategy, offering solutions to a set of previously unresolved puzzles. 中国青少年社会福利正处于整合和发展进程中，社会福利服务组织发育不良是制约中国社会福利，特别是服务福利发展严重滞后的重要因素。共青团在组织发展和工作指导思想上的变革，预示着中国社会福利服务组织的良性发育，对于中国社会福利的长远发展具有重大意义。     

清代社会救济制度初探

清朝是我国历史上最后一个封建王朝，清代的社会救济制度具有如下特点：贫困不构成道德问题，它基本上不受谴责，甚至有德性的贫人还是令人尊敬的；官方救济缺乏法制化基础，不重视救济的经济功能，与农业社会结构相适应。民间机构救济内容的多层次，资金来源的多元化，管理方式有一定的近代性；民间救济机构对接受者有经济和道德的双重要求，主要发挥教化乡里、改善民风和社会整合的功能；家族保障的封闭性和狭隘性，救济范围小，再分配功能弱。     

少数民族地区农村的社会控制与法治建设

在少数民族农村, 存在着性质不同、类型多样、机制复杂和作用各异的社会控制,构成了一个复杂的社会控制体系。民族农村的社会秩序不是某种社会控制单向作用的结果, 而是多元的规范和不同性质的社会控制机制之间复杂的互动所建构的。在具体的纠纷个案中正式社会控制与非正式社会控制具有相互替代的可能, 但是就秩序建构的总体过程来看, 二者又不可相互替代, 民族农村法治建设的关键是处理好不同社会控制之间的关系。
