Teachers as Builders of Respectful School Climates: Implications for Adolescent Drug Use Norms and Depressive Symptoms in High School

Positive school climates have been found to have favorable effects on adolescent health risk behaviors and mental health outcomes. However, the mechanisms by which teacher behavior may promote such effects in high schools have not been extensively studied. Based on social control theory and a social developmental-contextual model, it was predicted that by respecting students’ points of view and decision making capabilities, teachers can help build respectful school climates that encourage healthy norms of behavior. Structural equation modeling with a nationally representative sample of 476 youth ages 14–18 supported the model. Adolescents who reported higher teacher support and regard for student perspectives in their high schools were more likely to see their schools as having respectful climates and healthy norms of drug use which was associated with lower levels of personal drug use. Students in such schools also reported greater social belonging and fewer symptoms of depression.

益气活血通络方对高糖诱导的人脐静脉内皮细胞炎性因子表达的影响

目的 研究益气活血通络方含药血清对高糖诱导的人脐静脉内皮细胞(human umbilical vein endothelial cells, HUVECs)炎性因子白细胞介素-1β（interleukin-1 beta, IL-1β）、肿瘤坏死因子-α（tumor necrosis factor alpha, TNF-α）、单核细胞趋化蛋白-1（monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, MCP-1）及金属基质蛋白酶-1（metal matrix proteinase-1, MMP-1）表达的影响,探讨益气活血通络方对脐静脉内皮细胞的保护作用。方法 选择SD大鼠30只,中药灌胃,制备含药血清。体外培养HUVECs,MTT法检测不同时间点、不同浓度葡萄糖对细胞存活率的影响;将HUVECs随机分为5组,即空白对照组,模型组,益气活血通络方低、中、高浓度组,高糖刺激后,分别加入不同浓度益气活血通络方含药血清干预,收集上清及细胞,ELISA法检测IL-6的表达,Western Blot法测定IL-1β、TNF-α、MCP-1及MMP-1蛋白的表达。结果 细胞培养48 h 后,33.3 mmol/L高糖组（模型组）细胞活力显著降低（P＜0.05）;高糖刺激可引起IL-6、IL-1β、TNF-α、MCP-1及MMP-1蛋白的高表达(P＜0.05）,益气活血通络方含药血清显著抑制IL-6、IL-1β、TNF-α、MCP-1及MMP-1蛋白的高表达（P＜0.05)。结论 益气活血通络方可抑制炎性因子的高表达,对高糖损伤的HUVECs有一定的保护作用。     

Looking towards the East: the High Representative’s role in EU foreign policy on Kosovo and Ukraine

ASBTRACT

My article addresses the role of the two post-Lisbon High Representatives (HRs), Catherine Ashton and Federica Mogherini, in EU approach to the Eastern neighbourhood. Adopting a broad conceptualisation of EU foreign policy and drawing on the scholarly literature on new intergovernmentalism, it focuses on events that marked the HRs' mandates in the cases of Kosovo and Ukraine. In the case of Kosovo, it examines the HRs' role in the conclusion of the so-called Brussels Agreement (April 2013); and of the August 2015 agreements. In the case of Ukraine, it reconstructs how the HRs dealt with the events leading up to the November 2013 Vilnius Summit; and with those leading up to the conclusion in February 2015 of the Minsk II Agreement. The article argues that the European Council exerts tight control over the post-Lisbon HR, and EU foreign policy-making processes more generally. Nonetheless, the empirical analysis demonstrates that, under certain circumstance, the HR can significantly influence EU foreign policy in the post-Lisbon era.

香港法律因历史原因具有混合性的特点,而香港宪法的源流和形式亦有其多样性,这两点均反映在十九世纪中叶至二十世纪初的香港宪政状况之中。九七之后,香港特别行政区宪法的发展和表现形式受到中国1982年宪法、1984年中英联合声明和1990年香港特别行政区基本法的决定性影响。中国政府务实地履行法律上的义务和承诺的举动,保障了香港的高度自治及政局稳定和经济繁荣。     

HPLC测定葛根素微乳中葛根素的含量

目的:建立HPLC测定葛根素微乳中葛根素的含量。方法:色谱柱为Shim-pack VP-ODS(4.6 mm×150 mm),流动相为甲醇-1 g/L枸橼酸水溶液(25∶75),测定波长250 nm,流速0.8ml/min,柱温为40℃。结果:葛根素与辅料及溶剂峰分离良好,在5.29-132.25μg/ml时线性关系良好(r=0.999 95)。结论:HPLC测定葛根表方法便捷、准确、重复性好,可用于葛根素微乳含量的测定。

This article explores alternatives for the court process that promote a child‐centered approach to resolution of family law issues including a summary of procedures used in Los Angeles County to assist families. The article also explores alternatives to the traditional custody litigation model.

• Evaluations and trials are not the only tools available in family law.
• Structured court ordered counseling can provide a meaningful intervention and reduce family conflict.
• Alternative forms of mediation can help families address the “need to be heard” and retain personal autonomy in decision making.
• The court system should help educate families about how to resolve conflict in a safe, effective, and meaningful way.
