Intraobserver Error in Macromorphoscopic Trait Data, ,

As part of a much larger investigation into the use of macromorphoscopic trait data by forensic anthropologists to estimate ancestry from unidentified skeletal remains, we conducted a fourteen‐year (2002–2016) intraobserver error study. Motivated by the development of a large macromorphoscopic database―which will potentially utilize data collected in 2002―quantification of observer error, the impact of technological improvements in macromorphoscopic trait data collection and observer experience is necessary. To maximize comparisons between the two samples, ten macromorphoscopic traits were assessed. Results revealed three patterns of error relating to observer experience, the introduction of new technologies, and error inherent in the method. Overall, this study found the effect of error on macromorphoscopic trait analysis could be predicted and did not significantly impact their utility.

Politicians in Television

ABSTRACT

Television viewers, journalists and social influence analysts often use the term “television character” or “media-savvy person” when referring to people (also to politicians) who draw the viewers' attention and interest (Reeves, Naas, 2000). The purpose of the research presented herein is to answer two questions: (1) what are the differences in social perception of five main personality dimensions (“the Big Five”: agreeableness, conscientiousness, extraversion, neuroticism, and openness to experience [intellect]) of media-savvy politicians and those considered to belong to the non-media-savvy type; and (2) how traits attributed to media-savvy and media-un-savvy politicians remain connected with the viewers' political self-identification. A hundred journalism students, using an adjective list for “the Big Five” diagnosis (five dimensions of personality), were to identify their political beliefs as right wing, mixed, or left wing and to describe a politician they considered to be the most media-savvy and the least media-savvy person. Results indicate that media-avvy politicians are perceived to be more extrovert (dynamic), more open to experience, and more conscientious than their media-un-savvy counterparts; participants' (viewers') political beliefs reflect the importance of openness and conciliation in perception of media-savvy and non-media-savvy politicians.

高职会计专业《经济法》课程的教学模式直接影响会计专业应用型人才的培养质量。当前高职会计专业经济法教学存在一系列挑战:缺乏适合高职财会专业的特色教材;考证应试效应给实践教学增添巨大压力;教师缺乏实践经验等。因此,以教师"双体验"为切入点构建新型教学模式:以趣味性和操作性为起点,抓好导入关;以考证和实践相结合为重点,抓好质量关;以教师培养和使用为关键,抓好育人关。     

Electoral coordination in mixed‐member systems: Does the level of democratic experience matter?

A number of institutional and non‐institutional factors hamper electoral coordination and, hence, increase party system fragmentation in the nominal tier of mixed electoral systems. Contrary to expectations, the number of electoral parties is not lower in all old democracies. Nevertheless, the level of democratic experience modifies the effect of other variables like the type of mixed electoral system or the closeness of the races. Econometric tests evaluate this phenomenon in a diverse sample of 15 countries and a total of 57 elections with more than 10,000 observations at the district level.

中国共产党从青年运动中脱颖而出,并发展壮大。在民主革命时期,党领导以青年为先锋队的革命队伍反抗＂三座大山＂的压迫,取得了新民主主义革命的胜利。新中国成立后,党主要通过共青团来动员青年参加社会主义建设。党始终围绕各个时期的中心任务开展青年运动。随着对青年成长成才规律和青年运动规律认识的深化,党对青年运动的领导逐步走向成熟：从直接领导到渗透性领导,从争取青年到组织青年、团结青年、引导青年、凝聚青年、服务青年。党必须在理论和实践上与时俱进,保持先进性,用科学、完整、发展的马克思主义来指导青年运动,通过青年的核心组织——共青团来领导青年运动;党必须不断改进、改善领导方式和方法,照顾好青年的特点,关心青年,始终代表和维护最广大青年的利益,才能领导好青年运动。     

关于美学教学与实践方式的若干思考

美学课的教学过程,应注重充分调动学生作为审美主体参与各种审美活动的主动性,系统引导学生获得丰富的美感体验。通过探索多种有效的教学与实践方式,来改变传统美学教学的刻板抽象模式,使学生在尽情享受审美愉悦之同时,能获得比抽象说教更深刻的感悟,从而在潜移默化中不断提升审视美的境界。     

浅析红军团结改造神兵的历史经验

土地革命战争时期,活跃在湘鄂川黔边区的神兵有几十万之众。红军在创建湘鄂边、湘鄂川黔革命根据地的同时,依据党的统一战线理论和民族政策,对神兵实行团结改造的政策,取得良好的效果,争取数千神兵参加红军,使神兵成为红军的主要兵源之一,神兵为红军的壮大和根据地建设作出了贡献。     

Predictability of Physical and Psychological Violence by Early Adverse Childhood Experiences

Early Adverse Childhood experiences (ACEs) in families of origin can take the form of witnessing it and/or being its victim, both of which can lead to the occurrence of domestic violence. Given such close linkage, the purpose of the present study was to determine the predictive abilities of ACEs regarding specific types of physical and psychological violence. To do so, 50 couples from those referred to five different family courts in Tehran to seek divorce due to domestic violence, were randomly selected and administered an author’s-made questionnaire assessing different types of physical and psychological violence and the participant’s history of abuse by their parents. Our findings showed that witnessing domestic violence in childhood can predict different types of physical and psychological violence, but mostly could account for “hitting” of the physical type and “cursing” of the psychological type. Similarly, being the victim of domestic violence mostly accounted for predict “strangling” of the physical type and “cursing” of the psychological type. Such results are discussed in the context of the existing literature and underscore ACEs importance in terms of their predictive ability of various types of physical and psychological violence.
