IPO effects: corporate restructuring when a firm goes public

The public affairs of a firm issuing an initial public offering (IPO) are a critical part of the corporate restructuring efforts which firms face during the process of going public. In this paper, Bowman and Singh's (1993) definition is used to illustrate how issuing an IPO is a significant form of corporate restructuring. Public affairs are critical during both the pre‐IPO phase and during the period leading up to the IPO, as the firm must negotiate a heavily institutionalised process to successfully complete the issue. Here, the six‐year life of ‘Deja News’ is used as a way to illustrate and explain the public affairs during the process of preparing for and issuing an IPO. Social networks and non‐market strategy

To date, the field of non‐market strategy has little to offer in the way of an integrated perspective on the simultaneous management of strategic issues and corporate stakeholders. This paper employs social network analysis to make a number of theoretically grounded conjectures about the delicate relationships between stakeholder behaviour and issue evolution. It is found that social network analysis has the potential to enrich and integrate theoretical perspectives in the field of non‐market strategy, offering solutions to a set of previously unresolved puzzles. Of change,training and public affairs in Europe

European public affairs practitioners need to be increasingly professional in their reactions to an EU undergoing transformational change. The paper offers a comprehensive summary of the subtleties of institutional change in Commission, Parliament and Council in 2004. In particular, the author argues that expansion from 15 member states to 25 has fundamentally changed the nature of the Union's politics and the skills required to influence it. This new EU requires more of practitioners than experience and amateur instinct: to achieve results and avoid restrictive regulation, the public affairs community must adopt effective training strategies, challenging competence targets and regular self‐assessment of its performance and ethics. 塘沽模式:将社会性别意识纳入村民自治主流--对"提高农村妇女当选村委会成员比例政策创新示范项目"的观察与思考

国家民政部基层政权和社区建设司农村处在天津市塘沽区实施的“提高农村妇女当选村委会成员比例政策创新示范项目”(2003年6月-2004年6月)探索将社会性别意识纳入村民自治主流,即通过政策的推动改善农村妇女民主参与路径,推出了一个由政府主导、以政策干预为手段、联合社会各界共同推动农村妇女参与村民自治进程的塘沽模式。本文研究和评估了该项目的典范意义、发现和产出、推广价值以及存在的不足,提出了可持续发展的建议。

党的十六届四中全会《决定》首次明确提出逐步推进党务公开,这是党的执政理念的新突破和提高党的执政能力的新举措。党务公开是发展党内民主的内在要求,贯穿于党内民主建设的各个方面和环节。推进党务公开,进一步扩大了党员和群众对党内事务的知情权、参与权、选择权和监督权,成为新时期发展党内民主的理论和制度创新。     

论案例教学法在法律与电子法务教学中的实践

在法律与电子法务专业教学中需注重理论与实践的结合,案例教学法正是最佳的选择。在选择案例方面所选案例应该是原始的、未经任何改变的材料,应具有结论的不确定性。在讲授分析案例时需注意掌握案例分析的一般方法,将法律、法理与案情相结合,注重案例讨论组织的规范性,注重培养学生使用电子网络数据库查找案例的能力。

唐贞顺皇后陵墓被盗文物境外成功追回，得益于法律保障、专业技术和国际合作三个方面。但我国追索海外流失文物的工作仍很严峻。我国在海外流失文物追索过程中面临的主要法律困境包括证据资料搜集困难，缺乏适格诉讼主体，欠缺稳定的专业技术支持以及缺少专门追索机构。我国应借鉴国外先进经验制定《流失文物追索法》，对流失文物的性质、所有权归属以及追索原则等问题予以系统规定，并应成立专门的追索机构，从而有效解决追索过程中的法律依据、证据以及专业技术支持等问题。
