With a reliance on the various forms of forensic science evidence in complex criminal investigations, the measures for ensuring its quality are facing increasing scrutiny. Improvements to quality management systems, to ensure both the robust application of scientific principles and the accurate interpretation and reporting of results, have arisen as a consequence of high-profile rebuttals of forensic science evidence, combined with process improvements driven by evaluation of current practice. These improvements are crucial to ensure validity of results as well as providing assurance for all those involved in the Criminal Justice System. This work first examines the quality management systems utilised for the examination and analysis of fingerprint, body fluid and DNA evidence. It then proceeds to highlight an apparent lack of comparable quality assurance mechanisms within the field of digital forensics, one of the newest branches of forensic science. Proposals are provided for the improvement of quality assurance for the digital forensics arena, drawing on the experiences of, and more well-established practices within, other forensic disciplines. 相似文献

One of the five overarching principles of the Mental Health Act: Code of Practice is to provide patients with care and treatment which is least restrictive whilst encouraging recovery and promoting independence. However, there is limited research which explores the application of these principles within a medium secure unit. The aims of the research were to explore what are patient’s experiences of least restrictive practices and to what extent do they perceive that least restrictive practices maximise their independence and recovery. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 12 male inpatients within a medium secure unit. Five themes were evident: Positive Changes, Perceived Lack of Transparency, Social Isolation, Institutionalisation and Normality. It was found that patient’s perceived that there was lack of shared understanding between staff and patients of what is considered least restrictive. Patient recovery was promoted through positive risk-taking, the reduction in the use of seclusion and through the promotion of meaningful activities that resembled life in the community. Nevertheless, patients perceived that there was a lack of opportunities to socialise with patients from other wards. Due to the security level of the hospital patients perceived that independence was not achievable. 相似文献

环境教育是提升环境行动能力的重要途径,对推进生态文明建设有重要意义。目前环境教育虽已有长足进步,但实际开展中仍存在内容散落、学科领域狭窄、实践性不足等问题。在分析中国环境教育现状与问题基础上,从环境教育综合性、实践性的特点以及引导学生主动参与解决环境问题的角度,建构了以DFE导向的初中环境教育课程模型,并以上海市初中为例进行《生态公园模型设计》课程案例设计与实践。学生在校内外教师共同组成的跨学科教学团队指导下,以设计者角色参与立足真实环境问题的DFE工程设计过程,采用校外实地调查和校内设计制作相结合的实践活动形式,帮助学生获得解决环境问题的能力,树立热爱环境的情怀,理解“人与自然是生命共同体”理念。 相似文献

ABSTRACTHigh rates of child welfare practitioner turnover remain a national problem with significant consequences. Title IV-E education and training programs prepare child welfare practitioners for this line of work with the intent that they will create long term careers. This study analyzed qualitative data from a 2016 statewide electronic survey launched to obtain frontline child welfare practitioner feedback about workforce turnover and assist the agency in retention efforts.Practitioner insight resulted in 189 responses specifically related to improving the state’s Title IV-E supported education and training program–the “Academy.” A qualitative thematic analysis identified three main themes: making it more realistic and hands on (n = 104), needing additional training and specific content (n = 45), and feeling overwhelmed with the experience (n = 40). Practitioner feedback illustrated the existing tensions with using a blended model to educate and train the workforce. Implications for Title IV-E education and training partnerships are discussed. 相似文献

Classroom recording systems (systems that capture audio or video footage of a taught session) are being adopted in universities globally in part encouraged by studies that suggest that use of recording technology is associated with enhanced student engagement and perceptions of a course. Notwithstanding increased adoption as a result of perceived benefits, approximately only 10% of higher education institutions have adopted comprehensive lecture recording systems. This study considered the benefits and advantages of classroom recording systems. Academic concerns over student attendance and use of recordings are discussed with the implications for teachers, cognisant of the synergistic relationship between teachers, students and their learning. 相似文献

This article aims to contribute to the field of arts management by identifying the need to make cultural production/management an established field of professional practice and training in Brazil, and the challenges of doing so. To accomplish this, we reviewed several publications and we present first a discourse on theoretical texts in relation to the idea of culture and systems of cultural production and then an analysis of arts management publications in Brazil with observations about this field of work. In this article, we address the current paucity of training opportunities of this kind, the extent to which these roles have yet to be professionalized, and indicate, in the conclusion, that this is a matter of increasing importance and concern for cultural policy in Brazil. 相似文献
