中国共产党在延安时期发动了一场包括党、政、军、民、学的,民众团体中的工作干部和学校里的工作干部都在内的在职干部学习运动。这场学习运动的开展,是中共历史上提高干部理论素养、知识储备和工作能力的一次创造性的成功实践。它的开展对于中共冲破教条主义的束缚,卓有成效地推进党的建设“伟大的工程”发挥了极为重要的作用。     

The Consequences of Victim Physical Attractiveness on Reactions to Injustice: The Role of Observers’ Belief in a Just World

Two studies explored Dion and Dion’s (Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 52, 775–780, 1987) suggestion that the belief in a just world may contribute to the “beauty is good” stereotype. In Study 1, we found that participants rated the death of a woman as more tragic and unfair when she was physically attractive than less attractive. Participants were also more punitive towards agents of harm when the victim was physically attractive. In Study 2, we varied the extent to which a woman suffered from a house fire and asked participants to later recognize the woman’s picture among several choices varying in physical attractiveness. Participants who learned that the woman suffered a great deal remembered her to be less physically attractive than when her suffering was minimal. The results are discussed in terms of how the justice motive contributes to the evaluative and moral importance attached to physical attractiveness.

The Evidentiary Significance of Automotive Paint from the Northeast: A Study of Red Paint

This population study was conducted to assess the frequency of physical, microscopical, and chemical properties of automotive paint chips. Population studies of trace evidence provide valuable analytical data for criminalists to assess evidentiary significance. Two‐hundred automotive paint chips were collected from auto body shops from the Northeastern United States. All samples were analyzed using stereomicroscopy, brightfield, and polarized light microscopy. Red paints were targeted for further analysis using a sequence of modern instrumental techniques commonly used by forensic paint examiners: Fourier‐transform infrared (FT‐IR), Raman, and ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) microspectroscopy. The discrimination potential of each analytical method was evaluated by inter‐comparing the paint samples. Results demonstrated that macroscopic and microscopic properties were able to differentiate 99.995% of the population (one undifferentiated pair out of 19,900). When combined with either FT‐IR or UV–Vis microspectroscopy, all paints were differentiated. The results of this research lead to the conclusion that one would not expect to encounter two indistinguishable paint chips originating from different sources during the investigation of a single event.     

Is it complex environments or complex systems that undermines police reform in developing countries?

This article is a reflection upon the challenges facing police reform in developing countries. In doing so it explores the usefulness of complexity theory both to understand the evidence of relative failure and to reconsider the explanations offered for that failure in terms of unique individual factors or the complex nature of the environment. The article suggests that the nature of police organisations as complex social systems may be a principal reason for failure. The article outlines some of the key features of complex systems and illustrates these from actual police reform. The article then turns to whether complexity theory can be of any practical use in police reform programmes. It concludes that greater success may be forthcoming if the insights of complexity theory are taken on board by reformers.     

布哈林多样化思想的内涵

布哈林多样化思想是唯物史观的重要内容,同时也是马克思主义理论的重要组成部分。因此,研究布哈林,必须研究布哈林多样化思想,布哈林多样化思想应当包括三个相互关联的部分。一是帝国主义具有不同的形式,形成不同的“民族类型”;二是社会主义在其发展的初期,也必将有自己的特点;三是世界革命的过程呈现了不同的“多样化”特征。三者密不可分、辩证联系,共同构成布哈林多样化思想的内涵。     

论毛泽东的独立自主思想

毛泽东独立自主思想的精神实质是把马克思主义的普遍真理同中国的具体实际结合起来,走自己的路。独立自主地走自己的路,必须在坚持实事求是、群众路线和促使矛盾转化上下功夫,必须确立全心全意为人民服务、敢于创新、敢于胜利、艰苦奋斗和只争朝夕的精神境界。     

科学发展观集中体现了马克思主义关于发展的世界观和方法论

胡锦涛总书记在十七大报告中,对科学发展观的科学内涵、精神实质和根本要求作了全面的阐述,特别是关于科学发展观“是对马克思主义关于发展的世界观和方法论的集中体现”的论断,为我们指出了科学发展观之所以成为我国经济社会发展的重要指导方针和发展中国特色社会主义必须坚持和贯彻的重大战略思想的理论依据。
