Crime victim–police interface and registration of crime are the early and fundamental interactions in the criminal justice system. The process of lodging a complaint is marked by the pain of victimization, sharing of information, and expectation of quick remedial action from the police. The nature and quality of experience of the victim and outcomes impact the level of satisfaction with services of police. Through a survey of victims of property crimes, in different areas of a state in India, the author examines the impact of procedural justice and outcomes on victim satisfaction. The study illuminates the outcome oriented expectations of the victim, and the unique dynamics of victim–police interaction, which strains the legal ethical framework of the criminal justice system. 相似文献

This paper argues that religion influences the ways that people think and speak about corruption, typically leading to condemnation. However, it is also argued that, in a systemically corrupt country, such condemnation is unlikely to influence actual corrupt behaviour. Based on fieldwork in India, the paper finds that existing anti-corruption policies based on a principal-agent understanding of corruption, even if they incorporate religious organisations and leaders, are unlikely to work, partly because people consider “religion” to be a discredited entity. Instead, the paper argues that if corruption were to be seen as a collective action problem, anti-corruption practice would need significant rethinking. Despite its current lack of influence, revised policies and practices may see a role for religion. 相似文献

Police training is the process of imparting knowledge, skills, and values to police personnel. The study analyses a survey data on the perception of trainees and senior experienced officers regarding desired professional qualities in police officers. There is a high degree of congruence, in the assessment of values which are important for police, among the two groups. There are also differences among the two groups regarding the evaluation of the importance of interpersonal skills and human qualities. The study attempts to explain the similarities and the differences in perception by examining the conservative and innovative nature of police training, and the role of experience in developing an appreciation of human qualities. The study underlines the importance of police training as a mechanism to maintain the stability of operations in the organisation and its pivotal role in bringing about change in the police. 相似文献

This article considers several possible determinants of the transmission of legal precedent across Australian state supreme courts over the course of the twentieth century. The study finds that that the transmission of legal precedent is higher between State supreme courts that are more physically proximate and between state supreme courts in which a majority of judges in both courts are appointed by conservative governments. The study further finds that having an intermediate trial court and providing appointments to the High Court of Australia are correlated with whether a state is a source of interstate citations or a cue sender. 相似文献

This article offers a brief overview of the programmes in place for the provision of financial support to entrepreneurs and
R&D organizations for technology commercialization and dissemination in India. Financial assistance is provided under these
programmes to the industrial enterprises and R&D organizations by the Government of India for undertaking the development
of new technology based products. Technology financing under these programmes is provided in the form of: grants, loan, and/or
equity with the aim to strengthen the linkages of R&D laboratories with industry, as well as for the production of technology
based products for the domestic and global market. Extramural funding agencies of the central government departments such
as DSIR & DBT are involved in mainly the provision of financial support for R&D. 相似文献

This research investigates the critical elements affecting the ability of firms in developing countries to cultivate their technological capability through imported technology. The information obtained from forty-five technology recipient Indonesian manufacturing firms indicate that the cultivation of technological capability is affected by several factors such as a firm's technological absorption capacity in terms of R&D activities and availability of technical personnel; transfer channels; government's involvement; and a firm's learning culture. Also, the acquisition of mature technology just to boost production capacity or improve product quality contributes very little to the development of technological capability. 相似文献

Technology transfer can be seen as an effective mechanism to advance the flow of technological development in a developing
country’s economy. Though normally small-scale technology transfer projects are initiated and managed by private organizations,
the large-scale technology transfer projects in a developing country are sponsored by the state itself, given the complexity
level of and resource requirements for such projects. The purpose of this paper is to identify and discuss the critical elements
of a successful large-scale technology transfer process framework in a developing country context. Four components are highlighted
that facilitate a successful large-scale technology transfer process. These are: (i) understanding and selecting technology
components; (ii) selecting a technology transfer mode; (iii) negotiating effective process; and (iv) developing capability.
Aspects of negotiation and adoption/assimilation capability development are stressed in this paper, which is commonly missed
out in conventional technology transfer framework. Accordingly a comprehensive and goal oriented technology transfer framework
has been presented in the paper linking all the core elements. A Libyan case study is discussed to illustrate the framework.
