The Story of the Famen Temple

Despite its relatively isolated geographical location in East Asia, China came into early contact with western civilizations by way of the Silk Road and in the glory days of the Tang Dynasty （618-907）, China＇s exchanges with the outside world were exceptionally animated and active. While the world gained from China such technologies and products as silk. porcelain, tea, papermaking, printing, gunpowder and the compass, China benefited from other civilizations in both material and spiritual terms. Buddhism, a religion with a non-material speculative philosophy and ultimate concern for life, was introduced to China and became inextricably merged into Chinese culture in the process.     

China Insurance Regulatory Commission （CIRC） Recommends the Use of Minority Languages in Promoting the Provisions of Motor Vehicle Accident Liability Compulsory Insurance

To better promote among the public the provisions of Motor Vehicle Accident Liability Compulsory Insurance, Insurance Association of China, under the guidance of China Insurance Regulatory Commission （C1RC）, has organized a team of experts from the China Ethnic Languages Translation Bureau to translate these provisions into Tibetan, Mongolian and Uygur.     

The Second International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage：A FEAST OF INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE,A FESTIVAL FOR CHENGDU,A PARTY FOR THE WORLD

The Second International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage was held in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, which is known as the ＂Land of Abundance＂ in China, from June 1 to June 13, 2009. Delegations from 40 countries and different cities, autonomous regions and provinces of China participated in the festival＇s various activities. This, together with the International Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Forum attended by the ambassadors to the UNESCO of over 30 countries, the Grand Parade at the opening ceremony and the promotional drives at the festival, turned the event into a true public cultural pageant.     

Harmony and Civil Mediation among Ethnic Tibetans＇

The 2000 census estimated the ethnic Tibetan population of China at 5,41 million, inhabiting a vast area encompassing Tibet Autonomous Region, Qinghai,Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan and other neighboring provinces. The ethnic Tibetans live on the ＂roof of the world.＂ at an average altitude of 3000m. Such ＂a land of snows＂ and the long history of their religious and cultural life have committed them to a unique concept of harmony and a dispute-mediating tradition, which, among other things, are worthy of our attention.
