Beijing Parks（Part 2）——PARK TIDBITS

MY intention for Part 2 ofBeijing parks was that Iwould present a shortoverview of each park,highlight some new parks, and ofcourse include photos! However...As I was walking in a park onedayOn a very hazy day in MayI fell off a raft, and injured mycalf...Resulting in my park reportdelay!

Windhorses (Lungta) are small pieces of paper inscribed with galloping horses that are scattered from the tops of mountains.Sometimes prayer flages are also called windhores…they are for the same purpose of sending prayers and wishes high into the heavens in the hope that they will be answered.     

Beijing Parks[Part 3]

PARKS！Parks！Parks！There are simplytoo many to visit.My exploration hasbeen exhausting but highly satisfying.Iknow the city like the back of my handand I can sniff out parks even in the midst ofcranes and wrecking balls.If only I had anothertwo months,I might finish visiting all the parksin Beijing.     

SAN BAI JIU KOU-A PILGRIMAGE

0ver many dynasties the reigning emperor continued to make a pilgrim-age to Jietai Temple and make sacrifices to the gods to save the land fromflooding. They always took the same path laid out by the siler moon.Eventually the path became one of beautifully smooth stones. Wildflowersperfumed the air and leafy trees provided shade.     

In Search of Shandong Treasures

Over the past year, I have been intrigued with the thought of going to Qingzhou to see the museum and the site where the Qingzhou Buddhas were discovered. Finally I bought an overnight train ticket - destination -Qingzhou!

Walk in the park

NOW begins a long hot summer in Beijing and recent happenings have conspired to change my traveling plans… whatever will I do? I could stay in my air-conditioned flat and wait for fall, race from one air-conditioned store to another,wasting my time looking at things I don‘t need and don‘t even want.But I won‘t! Instead I‘m going to make plans to fully explore Beijing. But it‘s so hot! Do I really want to do this, do 1 really think I can change my hermit habits and brave the hot pavement and grumpy tempers of uncomfortable people? Yeah...I‘m determined and this is how I‘ll start.     

Maximum Han Culture in Xuzhou

XUZHOU is located in northern Jiangsu Province and was called Pengcheng in ancient times. With a history of 4,000 years, Xuzhou has much to offer the history buff. The first Han Dynasty (208B.C. to AD 25) emperor Liu Bang was born in Xuzhou. Descendants of Liu Bang ruled several kingdoms in the area for four centuries, and it is the many excavated tombs of these kings for which Xuzhou is known. Xuzhou is the heart of the Han Dynasty.
