This study examined gender differences in cross-gender violence perpetration and victimization (ranging from mild, e.g., push,
to severe, e.g., assault with a knife or gun) and attitudes toward dating conflict, among an urban sample of 601 early adolescents
(78% African-American). Comparisons across gender groups for cross-gender (e.g., female-to-male) violence perpetration and
victimization indicated higher levels of perpetration for girls and higher levels of victimization for boys. Girls also reported
higher levels of verbal and physical violence toward partners with regard to attitudes toward dating conflict. A path model
was specified and indicated that cross-gender violence perpetration, harsh parenting, peer deviance, low family income, and
neighborhood hazards accounted for significant variation in attitudes toward dating conflict. Findings were discussed regarding
the need to identify developmental precursors of dating violence in early adolescence and to focus prevention efforts on components
(e.g., social skills, coping strategies) necessary to prevent the onset and escalation of adolescent dating violence.

A novel approach for the identification and dating of the fountain pen ink entries on paper has been established by ion-pairing high-performance liquid chromatography (IP-HPLC). Twelve black and six red fountain inks have been collected, and their ink entries have been prepared by drawing lines on paper. The chromatographic conditions for separation of their dye components after extraction with solvents were optimized. Under the optimized conditions, the 18 fountain pen inks were differentiated individually by comparing the number of detectable main or minor dye components, and the relative peak intensities of each component. The ink entries were artificially and naturally aged, and the analysis results showed that the ink dye components were significantly decomposed when exposed to UV or fluorescent light compare to those of inks stored under natural condition. The changes of the relative peak height for the dye components were linearly related to the aging time, especially under natural aging conditions. The degradation characteristics of the dye components under different aging conditions provide scientific evidences for dating of the suspicious fountain pen ink entries on document. 相似文献

Orders of protection help combat dating violence by ensuring a period of separation between the victim and the abuser. The prevalence of dating violence is similar to that of spousal abuse and the effects on the nonmarried victims are just as severe. Some jurisdictions in the United States do not offer victims in dating relationships protective orders and two states restrict orders for same‐sex couples only. Other state statutes are inadequate. A uniform statute that permits participants in dating relationships access to protective orders should be implemented across the country.

The purpose of this study was to examine how partner psychological maltreatment is associated with depression, daily interpersonal
experiences, and affect. Participants were 67 late adolescents (17- to 22-years-old). Each participant completed a survey
followed by reporting affect, and interpersonal hassles and uplifts for seven consecutive days. Compared to those low in maltreatment,
participants in the high maltreatment group reported more hassles with partners and friends, less uplifts with family, and
more depressive symptoms. Multilevel modeling showed that adolescents in the high as compared to the low maltreatment group
were more interpersonally sensitive (defined as greater affective reactions to day-to-day interpersonal hassles). Results
reveal that psychological maltreatment by partners is an especially potent experience that occurs along with greater romantic
hassles and more interpersonal sensitivity. The effects of maltreatment were also found to spill over into relationships with
friends and families by either being associated with more hassles and greater reaction to hassles or fewer uplifts and less
reaction to uplifts.

The purpose of the present study is to examine the relationship between dating violence and childhood experiences of aggression.
The study specifically examines which of the following four variables is most strongly linked with the probability of partner
assault in a current relationship: violence socialization, sexual abuse history, parental neglect, or childhood deviant behavior.
Four hundred sixty-five Israeli undergraduate students participated in the study. The revised Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS2)
was used to measure current violence. Personal history variables were taken from a large-scale questionnaire, the Personal
and Relationships Profile (PRP). The results indicate that after controlling for the effect of other historical and demographic
variables, the only historical factor which is significantly associated with partner assault is childhood deviant behavior.
However, hierarchical regression analysis reveals that childhood deviant behavior is best explained by the three other types
of childhood experiences, in addition to gender (male), nationality (non-Jewish) and religiousness (non-religious). We also
found that while the probability of violence increases the longer the relationship lasts, it decreases in marital relationships
and cohabitation. The implications of the findings are discussed. 相似文献

Abstract This article reports qualitative findings of seven focus groups that illuminate the phenomenon of dating and dating violence from the perspective of the young adolescent. This study was part of a larger intervention project, “An Arts-Based Initiative for the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls,” a collaboration of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Johns Hopkins University, School of Nursing. Concepts of interest included: dating norms, ecological factors, elements of healthy and unhealthy relationships, and prevention strategies. Four themes emerged: respect versus disrespect, influence of friends, cost and benefit of sexual activity and violence as an acceptable response. The implications of this data highlight the need for school personnel to increase their awareness and understanding of the challenges middle school youth face. Dating violence prevention programs should be designed accordingly. 相似文献

Abstract Dating violence is prevalent among Hispanic adolescents, yet few incidents are reported to the police. This research explored the severity of adolescent definitions as one potential reason for its under-reporting. It was expected that some adolescents might define only the most severe violence as “dating violence” and as a consequence these incidents are under-reported. Hispanic adolescent definitions of dating violence were examined along with factorsgeneral acceptance of dating violence, peer support of dating violence, acculturation, victimization experience, and sex-that might be related to the construction of these definitions. Acculturation, victimization experience, and sex were found to significantly contribute to the severity of adolescent definitions. 相似文献

Dating Violence Victimization,Relationship Satisfaction,Mental Health Problems, and Acceptability of Violence: A Comparison of Men and Women 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Two of the most common reported consequences of dating violence are its impact on the victim’s satisfaction with their romantic
relationship and its impact on the victim’s mental health. Recent research suggests that the strength of these relationships
may be moderated by the degree to which the dating violence is acceptable to the victim. However, studies of these relationships
have been limited to samples of women. The purpose of the present research was to examine the relationships among dating violence
victimization, relationship satisfaction, mental health problems, and acceptability of violence for a sample that includes
not only female victims, but also male victims. Using a sample of 155 male and 417 female college students, hierarchical regression
analyses found that dating violence victimization is associated with relationship satisfaction and mental health problems
for both men and women. For men, acceptability of violence moderated the relationship between dating violence victimization
and the mental health problems of depression, anxiety, and somatization. For women, acceptability of violence moderated the
relationship between dating violence victimization and relationship satisfaction only.
