Abstract:Relatively little has been written about the women's internationalist movement which originated in the late nineteenth century and culminated in opposition to World War I. This article briefly sketches its growth during those years and suggests that the war, far from sundering the bonds between women, provided the opportunity for women to explore their common values and perspectives. In addition, it proposes alternatives and objectives for subsequent scholarly treatments of the topic.
