Industrial Clusters and the Approaches to Improving the SMEs' Competitiveness

Born with some limitations, the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) face competitive disadvantages constantly. Industrial clusters can improve the SMEs' competitive status by changing individual competition into atomistic competition, through those born functions (or mechanisms) of industrial clusters, such as competition-cooperation mechanism and special inspiriting mechanism, which can make up the SMEs' limitations by offering unique flexible specialization, local network and external economy. Consequently, a large number of clustered SMEs confirm that a "small scale" economy is growing into a "large scale" one. As such, the very approach to improving the SMEs' competitiveness is forming an industrial cluster.
