Farewell to Cultural Melancholy

The relationship of development and traditional culture is quite controversy in reality. The essence of the dilemma in the developing framework of non-western culture lies in some misunderstandings of cultural concepts. Academic history of cultural concepts shows that now culture is considered an integral system and the cultural concept emphasizing the differences among cultures is the aftereffect in the mind resulted from the conflict between French culture and German culture in the 18th century. This rigid culture only shows one aspect of culture whereas the practical culture embodies the influence of the present culture on the development and the dynamic role of man in creating culture as well so it shows the essence of culture. Only by replacing fixed culture by practical culture, can the dilemma between culture and development be solved whereas traditional culture is the foundation of development.
