| 摘 要： | 在西方列强“坚船利炮”的直接刺激下 ,清政府终于迈出了具有历史性意义的一步 ,于 1872至1881年间派遣学生留学美国。这是中国近代军事留学的发端。从留学的动因来看 ,武器装备的落后是刺激清政府派遣留学生的直接原因 ;从留学的目的和学习内容来看 ,其军事性质十分明显 ;从回国后的任职情况来看 ,直接在军队任职的留学生占了 2 0 %。

| Abstract: | Because of the frequent military provocation and invasion by the imperial powers the Qing dynasty was finally forced to take a significant step of sending students to study in the U.S..It became a starting point of Chinese Students studying military affairs abroad. The direct motive for doing so was to get rid of the backwardness in weapons.20 percent of the returned students were assigned to serve in the military. |
