Established child and youth care training programs attempt to ensure that students become skilled and knowledgeable in core competencies appropriate for the breadth of work settings with children and youth. Providing direction about employment areas also now requires information for students contemplating study at the graduate level. Six future career pathways are described, including preparatory skills, work characteristics and realities about each career area.
