Abstract: | AbstractIn protest of human rights violations in East Timor, on 2 October 1992 a House-Senate conference committee of the U.S. Congress deleted $2.3 million in International Military Education and Training (IMET) funding for Indonesia from the foreign aid appropriations bill. The committee also adopted requirements for notification and approval of economic aid to Indonesia. The bill was passed by both houses of Congress and became law when President Bush signed it on 6 October 1992. |
