The Present-day Interpretation of Deng Xiaoping's Idea on Efficiency and Fair Play

The practice of "giving priority to efficiency and meanwhile giving consideration to fair play" has not accurately reflected Deng Xiaoping's idea or the guiding principle of the Party in distribution in an all-round way. Such a practice did promote the accumulation of social wealth; it is, however, leading to the widening of the income gap between residents and causing of the problems involving social fair play. The dialectical unity of efficiency and fair play and the progress of society can only be achieved by reinforcing the concept of "giving equal consideration to both efficiency and fair play", enhancing the correct policy guidance, insisting on the direction of lofty value ideas and strengthening the regulation of the abnormal factors.
