法国民族国家和民族观念论析

An Analysis of the French Nation State and Its Idea of Nation

The French nation state is a product of a long process of historical evolution,whose very foundation lies in the French Revolution and the notion of republicanism.The divergences between France and Germany on their ideas of nation arise not only from their different histories and cultures,but from the political struggles between them.In France,republicanism and assimilation have long been regarded as the expression of civilization and progress.France has always been stressing "unification" and "the principle of republicanism" in its socio-cultural model and immigration policy,due to its status as a political,economic and cultural power in the world.However,with the development of globalization,further deepening of European integration and the decline of France’s international status,great challenges have been encountered by the French idea of nation state,its socio-cultural pattern and national identity.
