Abstract: | InherfirstnovelMaMa,thecontemporaryAfricanAmericanwomanwriterTerryMcMillandiscussedtheproblemofblackmotherhood.Foralongtime,AfricanAmericanmothershavebeengivenaname-“superstrongBlackmother”whichseemstospeakhighlyofblackmothers,butinfactpreventsthemfrompursuingtheirindependentidentityandmotherhood.Thispapermainlyexaminesthereversewritingof“superstrongBlackmother”imageandthereconstructionofblackmotherhoodinthenovelfromsuchthreeaspectsasthedischargeoftheblackmother’ssexualdesire,emotionalneedandthereconstructionofanewfamilymodal,blackmother’suniquewaytoexpresshermotherhoodtodefusethecrisisofblackmotherhood,andarrogationoflivingspaceandthedismantlementofclassbarrier,whichmayprovidesomereferenceforpeople’scognition,constructionandpracticeofmotherhood. |
