Abstract: | In this article, the 2008 annual lecture of The Women’s Library, London Metropolitan University, the author reflects on the ninety years since 1918 when certain categories of women over the age of thirty (about 8 million) won the right to the parliamentary vote in Britain. In particular, women’s participation in politics in societies worldwide is discussed. |
