Abstract: | In 1979 Mustafa Rejai and Kay Phillips published a study of 64 revolutionary leaders in which they attempted to locate commonalities that would strengthen our understanding of the factors that motivate such individuals to spearhead revolutionary efforts. The data found certain revealing areas. This study, by placing the revolutionary Monte Melkonian in the context of this data seeks to do the following: (1) validate, in a small way, Rejai's and Phillips’ study, and (2) more clearly understand Melkonian, a third generation Armenian‐American who died in battle after becoming the military commander of an entire region of Nagorno‐Karabakh. |
