Indian hemp eradication campaign in burma and the characterization of burmese hemp type by thin-layer chromatography. A case report

Burma's national campaign for the destruction of locally cultivated indian hemp is reported. Samples of indian hemp grown and collected during the operation were subjected to thin-layer chromatographic analysis. These samples tend to contain predominantly Δ⁹-tetrahydrocannabinol with very low or total absence of cannabidiol. In comparison with recently published data for Burmese cannabis, the present findings showed a significant difference.
