Why Need Nudge Policies:Understanding the Desynchrony between Consciousness and Behavior

The level of health knowledge among Chinese people has been greatly improved in recent years,however,most of their daily behaviors are not healthy enough.It is crucial to explain the desynchrony between them for improving national health level.Scholars in social sciences,psychology,and nutrition,etc.,provide many insights for us to understand people’s choices and actions.The article aims to put the individual choices into a larger public policy context,so that to analyze the consumption habits of whole-wheat flour in PRC based on data from SGSS 2019 and the fieldwork in Z City of A Province.We paves a new approach to explain the desynchrony through three dimensions,such as the differences among generations of residents and the transfer of consumption rights,the characteristics of new consumption options,and the absence of government.The article especially focusing on the failure of regulation.Based on the explanation,we discuss the role that the government should play.In the future,the government should provide the healthier product options as the nudge.Besides,the national production standards should be formulated and revised as soon as possible.Finally,health knowledge can be spread by the more user-friendly language,which can also help to promote the health of Chinese residents.
