The Trump administration is trying to engage in a global retrenchment, demanding benefits from its allies and launching trade frictions, aimed at rehabilitating America and ensuring America First, while driven by the hegemonic inertia thinking and actual business interests, realpolitik of the US demands to keep its presence in relevant regions and holds onto its geopolitical interests in the world. Even if Trump gets reelected, the game between the government and realpolitik would not stop. However the gap between them may get narrowed.
