Intercultural Collisions--An Intercultural Perspective of Invisible Man, an African American Novel

Literary texts have broadened the studies of intercultural communication. Invisible Man by African American writer Ralph Ellison reveals the intercultural collisions between the White and the Black and the detrimental effects of the former's ethnocentrism on the social life of the latter who have to adopt extreme countermeasures. Positive intercultural activities must be preceded by "a dialogue at the equal level" and the absence of ethnocentric attitude and behavior. The lesson from American racial problems is of great significance to the multicultural situation of the world.
