Abstract:This paper describes an analytical method that can be used to identify diazepam, chlordiazepoxide and theirs major metabolites, N-desoxydemoxepam, 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenons, oxazepam, desoxychlordiazepoxide, in the postmortem tissues and urine. The sample was extracted using ethyl ether at PH 9-10, and repurified by TLC, final analysed by GC/MS or direct solid probe on the Finnigan mat 1020GC/MS. The detection limit ,1s 15 ng for chlordiazepoxide and diazemap. This paper discusses the process of heat degradation and metabolism.
