The National Security in the Seed Industry from the Agricultural Modernization Perspective

A modernized seed industry is the foundation of agricultural modernization. Lying at the upstream of the industrial chain of agriculture, the seed industry is a basic, strategic core industry in the process of agricultural modernization, and the basis for ensuring the food safety of the country. During the process of agricultural modernization, our country must emphasize the security of the seed industry and actively respond to the challenges faced thereof. To improve the competitiveness of the seed industry, the subject is the enterprises, the core is breeds, and the key is innovation. We should strengthen the policy guidance, perfect the legal system, transform the development pattern, and make efforts to improve the abilities of the seed industry in scientific and techno- logical innovation, enterprise competition, guarantee of seed supply, and market supervision.
