Intention and Effect of Loanwords in Japanese

Japanese language contains a large amount of loanwords. A large portion of them originate from European and American Languages. The loanwords have enriched the original Japanese expressions. Integrated into Japanese, the word form, the meaning, and the phoneme of the loanwords have been inevitably changed in the Japanese language system. As a medium of communication, the loanwords introduce new concepts and create new senses of language.
