An Archetypal Interpretation of Kuafu''''s Chase for the Sun, A Chinese Myth

There have been various interpretations of Kuafu's Chase for the Sun, a Chinese myth carried in the Book of Mountains and Seas. By using the archetypal approach, a conclusion can be drawn that the myth is built on the archetype of a rain-seeking ceremony performed by ancient magicians. The hero Kuafu is in fact a witch in primitive society, and the story itself is but a record of the afore-mentioned ceremony which was commonly performed at the time.
