A Brief Discussion on the Inheritance and Development of National Costume --With a Case Study in the Change and Development of Naxi''s Costume

National costume constitutes an important part of any culture. The way the Naxi redesigned and promoted their traditional costume sets an example for other ethnic groups as to how their traditional dresses can be best inherited and protected. Inheritance and innovation are basic means by which traditional costume of a nation can be promoted. The costume of various ethnic minorities has a value of its own. To protect this important cultural heritage efforts must be made to integrate it with tourism and other socio-economic activities so that its development is well backed up.
