在中国现代化的进程中,美国因素无法忽视。美国的发展是世界历史上的奇迹,但由于历史的原因,中国与欧洲对美国的发展作出了不同的解读。改革开放以来,中国人已经可以以比前人更为理性、从容、开阔的心态来研究和理解美国。但在研究中美关系时,要防止“只谈中美、忽视其他”,似乎大千世界只有中美两家的误区,在研究美国时,也要避免把美国看成是“一个大脑、一种思维”,或“铁板一块”的思维定式。实际上,美国是一个复杂的多元体,例如,一个东西两岸的“国际化的美国”与另一个南方和内陆地区的“本土化的美国”互动,就具有研究价值。

On the American Factor in the Process of China''''s Modernization

The American factor cannot be overlooked in the process of China's modernization. America's rise is a miracle in world history that has been understood differently by Chinese and Europeans due to differing historical perspectives. The current generation in China views the United States with more rationality, calm, and tolerance than prior generations. However, we must avoid going to extremes in concentrating only on China and America, thereby ignoring the rest of the world, when studying Sino-American relations. We should also recognize that the United States is not a completely homogenous nation. Rather, America is a complicate polyploid with the Pacific and Atlantic coasts characterized by internationalization and the southern and the inland areas by localization.
