| Affiliation: | Frances Morrell is Chair of the New Socialist Editorial Panel. She was Leader and before that Deputy Leader of ILEA 1981–1986. She was policy advisor to the Secretary of State for Industry and subsequently to the Secretary of State for Energy in the Labour Government of 1974–79. Last year she organized a conference in London of the European Left, "The Alternative to Trade Wars". This article is based on a paper by Frances Morrell and Terry Ward of Cambridge Department of Applied Economics prepared for that conference. |
