Abstract: | Many assert that China will become a great power, if not a superpower, in the foreseeable future. Such sensational claims result from either ignorance or ulterior motives. The author seeks to refute this absurdity by factoring in forecasting methodology, per capita GDP figures, and development modes. He concludes that the goal set by Deng Xiaoping for China to become a medium developed country around 2050 still holds water. |
