二程论公及其当代启示

Discussion of the Two Chengs on Public Good

Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi were important representatives of the Neo-Confucianism of the Song Dynasty,who paid close attention to the connotation and value of public good.Cheng Hao put forward the thought of the Great public good,when he was probing into the connotation of benevolence,regarding public good as the object of human beings’benevolence towards Nature,thus bringing natural world into moral light.Cheng Yi elaborated on the point that public good is the reason of benevolence,clarifying the relationship between public good and benevolence,and public good and reason;As regard the realization public good prior to private,the two Chengs made a profound study from such perspectives as the practical subject,value orientation,and the practical methods.Such thoughts enlighten somewhat in such areas as the construction of social ecology civilization,anti-corruption,and remolding the value system.
