| Abstract: | With a review of the early development of liner service in China between 1842 and 1874,the author concludes that the first shipping conference in the world was founded in 1864 by shipping lines plying the Yangtze River trade,whose commercial wisdom in restricting competition should not be underestimated in the present antitrust climate for the purpose of manipulation of future challenge and opportunity. |
