TOWARD ANALYSIS-AIDED MEDIATION OF OCEAN DISPOSAL SITE-SELECTION CONTROVERSIES: AN APPLICATION OF JUDGMENT ANALYSIS

He was a Research Fellow in the Interdisciplinary Programs in Health of the Harvard School of Public Health from 1981 to 1984.;THOMAS M. LESCHINE is Research Associate Professor of Marine Studies at the University of Washington. His current research is focused on environmental decisionmaking as it relates to pollution in marine waters.
Abstract:The field of judgment and decisionmaking research provides a theoretical framework and analytical tools that may be valuable in facilitating the resolution of environmental conflict through mediation. This paper provides an overview of the concepts, tools and findings of this research area, and illustrates how they might be used to build a lvbrieffl for aiding the mediation of a controversy regarding sludge disposal in the New York Bight.
