Abstract: | Dr. Yazdi, a pharmacologist, university professor and political activist, served as deputy prime minister and foreign minister under the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, resigning in protest during the hostage crisis of November 1979. He served in the Majlis (parliament) 1980-84 and is now secretary general in the opposition political party, the Liberation Movement of Iran. He shared his views with the Middle East Policy Council as a private citizen. His interlocutor was Geoffrey Kemp of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. |
