Reforms in Uzbekistan

Marking a significant break with his repressive and insular predecessor Islam Karimov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev appears committed to an ambitious agenda of economic and political reform. How feasible it will be remains unclear. But Uzbekistan's economic modernisation and increasing political openness could have huge implications for economic growth and political stability across Central Asia.
