Awakening of the national consciousness in Russia--Debate between western line and Slav line

There happened the Russian reform of the Great King Peter in the 18th century. The reform mainly in material level lasted to 19th century, and stimulated the great debate between western line and Slav line. Such a debate has involved some significant issues like the fate of Russia, its historical position and task, and the developmental path Russia should pass. The debate also referred to the fields such as literature, philosophy, religion, and arts among others. This debate marked awakening of Russian consciousness of nation, and promoted in a great scale the development of Russian spiritual culture, and served as the locomotive to push the Russian literature into the peak of the world and the occurrence of an independent Russian philosophy.
