Functional Essence of Religion and Its Domain Expressions--Analysis in Sociology Function Perspective

The functional essence of religion is a means of belief and a ritual system with which social groups and an individual search for the mental and physiological safety consciously or unconsciously. Its universality and individuality consist of both functional and substantial essence of religion. The expressions of the functional essence of religion in the domain of the relation between the state and community are shown as follows : for the sake of the social stabilization, the state mediates the sense of safety in the community by controlling the methods of religions, while the society makes the religion secularized for the personal use, thus defending the safety of the community and an individual .
