"The Prosperity Has Come to Naught in No Time": A Historical Narration of Xing Guo Luo-jin

This paper focuses on the novel Xing Guo Luo-jin, the first of the ＂Trilogy of Taiwan＂, a literature project on which Shi Shuqing exerts herself in recent years. Trying to build up the history of Taiwan through the viewing angle of the common persons, the novel is rather different from the writings describing the tribe changes of the nobilities. This paper discusses in Shi Shuqing＇s works what the mass portrayal of the unimportant persons indicates, what it has toppled and what truths often ignored by historical records it has revealed
