The Cultural Spectacle of the Western Gothic: the Inheritance of Gothic Films from Gothic Literature

The gothic revival is one of the sights of modern Western culture. Gothic culture has its own esthetic and literary sources. The Gothic culture was rooted in early English Gothic literature. The latter as a literary tradition influenced the film, thus producing Gothic film. The Gothic film applied its own artistic language to inherit and developed the elements in the Gothic literature so that it contributed significantly to the Gothic revival and the appearance of Gothic culture and has been one of the most attractive sights of modern Gothic culture.
