A Tentative Study of the Characteristics of Hu Qiaomu’s Thinking in Different Stages in His Study of the CPC History

Hu Qiaomu’s thinking in his study of the CPC history experienced marked changes and may be divided into three historical stages. Each stage has its different characteristics:The main feature of the first stage is to take theory as the guiding principle for the study of the Party history and the research on the Party’s history is carried out around the struggles between the two political lines. The second stage is mainly characterized by the emancipation of the mind and theoretical reflections. In the third stage he showed a wider field of vision, more original viewpoints and more deep-going academic thinking. A probe into the different characteristics of Hu Qiaomu’s thinking in his study of the CPC history and the influencing factors during the three historical stages will be of important theoretical value and significance for deepening the study on Hu Qiaomu’s thinking and the chronological study of the history of the CPC.
