Abstract: | This article details strength-based practice that was recently developed in the juvenile justice field for work with challenging (mandated) adolescents. This approach blends the strengths perspective and the solution-focused brief therapy methods to offer field workers the “one-two punch” of theory and methods. This approach will be outlined by discussing six principles organized around the “ABCs” of: Accountability-Action, Believing-Brief and Cooperation-Competency. The article closes by describing four advantages of this approach for direct practice. |
