This essay discloses new situation in Japan's energy import, energy using efficiency, energy structure and strategic storage according to Japan's new data in energy statistics. The author describes Japan's new national energy strategy and its related foreign energy strategy and energy diplomacy based on it. He also analyzes Japan's energy policy of large-scale cooperation with energy producing countries and its diplomacy for international energy coordination. Besides, the paper presents five strategic aspects of Japan's international energy policy such as to realize energy source pluralism, enhance its diplomatic relations with traditional oil and gas producing regions and countries, etc. Finally, the author evaluates and analyzes the motivation, effects and appropriateness of Japan's international energy strategy.
