| Abstract: | The reason for the American criminal law being adopted in the form of statute is to heighten the effectiveness of the "legality principle". The operational structure of the American criminal law is divided into three parts: offense definition, principle of imputation, and defense. Criminal law should have three functions: rule articulation, liability assignment, and grading. |
