| 摘 要： | BEFORE 1979, the subtropical coastline facing the South China Sea was a weed-infested wasteland. Local fishermen there had no concept of industry, or even of a city. Then, at the end of 1979 a military trainload of engineering corps arrived at this virtually unknown village and embarked upon construction of China's first Special Economic Zone. |
