Legal Protection for the Illegitimate Child in Japan

The well-developed and substantial Japan＇s law of illegitimacy had its historic and progressive significance. However, after World War lI, some of the rules in its legal protection for the illegitimate child are now obviously in disagreement with the current legal trend of the international parenthood law, just for lack of necessary improvement there. In order to attain a clearer and better understanding of the Japanese legal system of illegitimacy, it is necessary to examine entirely Japan＇s related law through its establishment rules on parenthood, its rights protection rules, and a deep analysis of its related theoretical foundations and the actual challenges will be discussed too. This research will help resolve the possible disputes on child＇s legitimate or illegitimate status in the China-Japan＇s civil communications.
