Catholic Factors in the Early Portuguese Colonial Expansion

It's well known that in the early modern times,Portugal was both a Catholic country and the first European colonial country expanding overseas.Portugal's fanaticism towards Catholicism determined that its colonial activities would inevitably be influenced by Catholicism,in other words,the Catholic factors cannot be ignored.This article discusses from several aspects the influence and function of Catholicism and its missionaries against the background of Portuguese colonial expansion in the East Asian sea area during the early modern times.
